Residents Wanted for the Pleasant Street School Reuse and Disposition Planning Committee

-A A +A

The Town of Athol is seeking up to five (5) Athol residents to join the Town of Athol Pleasant Street School Reuse and Disposition Planning Committee.  The Committee is being established after the Board of Selectmen approved the Town Manager’s recommendation to convene such a Committee to assist in reuse or disposition planning of the now closed Pleasant Street Elementary School.

The intent is to have the Pleasant Street Reuse and Disposition Planning Committee be established as a nine (9) voting member advisory committee comprised of five citizens-at-large, and designees from the Capital Planning Committee, the Athol Regional School District Committee, Board of Selectmen and Board of Planning and Community Development (BPCD). The Athol-Royalston School District Administration and Town Manager will each provide an ex-officio member.

The Committee will be facilitated by a planning process led by the Director of Planning and Community Development with assistance from those familiar with the Pleasant Street School within the School Department.  The key goal for the Committee is to come up with a future use (or series of uses) plan for the School or come up with a disposition plan if no such uses can be found to make financial support of the building feasible.
