Athol Community Wood Bank

The Town of Athol has received support from the DCR Massachusetts Small Forest Landowner Outreach Initiative to start its own Wood Bank. Support for the Athol Community Wood Bank is also made possible by the Town of Athol Department of Public Works, Office of the Town Manager, MA Department of Conservation and Recreation, the U.S. Forest Service, State & Private Forestry, Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, and local volunteers.

You may apply for the Athol Community Wood Bank any time between January 1st and October 31 of each year.  Applications will be reviewed in the first week or two of November.  Depending on the amount of wood available, the committee does their best to allow one pod of wood per applicant.  If there are more applications submitted than wood available, the committee will determine recipients based on need and age of those living in the home.  Please be as thorough as possible on the application.  Recipients will be notified by mail and receive a voucher, which they must present when picking up their pod of wood.

If you or someone you know is in need of supplemental wood for heating this winter please follow this link  to apply.
