Sealed Proposals addressed to the Department of Public Works 584 Main Street, Room 24, Athol, Massachusetts and endorsed “Proposal for Contract DPW #2024-21, Roadway Reclaiming, Resurfacing & Related Work, Various Locations” will be accepted by the Department of Public Works in the Town Hall of Athol located at 584 Main Street, Room 24, Athol, MA 01331.  Bids will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. on May 23, 2024 at which time said bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in the DPW Superintendent’s office.

Work consists of reclaiming approximately 19,350 S.Y. of roadway, placement of approximately 3,900 Tons of hot mix asphalt, 150 ton of hot mix asphalt sidewalk (ADA Detectable mats to be added by town after completion of project, 1,800 L.F. of Bituminous Concrete Curb and related work to include structure adjusting and installation of asphalt berm and asphalt sidewalk. All work to be completed by 10/01/2024.

This agreement has the option to renew with the successful bidder one (1) time for one (1) year for similar work outlined in this agreement to be performed on similar roads in the Town of Athol, if prices remain consistent, service is satisfactory and both parties are in agreement to do so.

Bid Security from the Contractor in the form of cash, certified check, treasurer’s check, or cashier’s check, drawn upon a responsible bank in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or a bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid shall be made payable to the Town of Athol, Massachusetts and shall be enclosed with the bid.

Minimum Wage Rates, as determined by the Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Industries, under the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 26 and 27G, as amended, apply to this project.

The successful bidder must comply with Chapter 151B as amended, of the Massachusetts General Laws and with the provisions of Executive Order No. 74, as amended by Executive Order No. 116 dated May 1, 1975 pertaining to Equal Opportunity Anti-Discrimination and Affirmative Action.

A Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Bond in the full amount of the contract, will be required of the successful bidder.

The Town of Athol reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all proposals or to accept the proposals deemed most satisfactory to the Town, if it be in the public interest to do so.

MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the class of work as, Pavement Resurfacing, for the project with an estimated value of $687,330 will be required.
