Athol Open Space and Recreation Committee

 Athol Residents -

Is your front yard hot and uninviting? Add some shade with a maple tree or some color with a flowering crab. Perhaps you would like to grow apples for your family to enjoy.

The Athol Shade Tree Commission is pleased to announce the 2017 shade tree applications are now being accepted. The town of Athol provides the Commission with a small amount of seed money which is enhanced with fundraising efforts of Commissioners and volunteers.

Applications for shade trees will be accepted at any time. Selections will be made from applications arriving by April 13 each year. Priority will be given to residents whose site enhances the visual appeal of the neighborhood. Only one application per property. The Athol Shade Tree Commission reserves the right to deny an application if the proposed site does not meet ASTC guidelines.

Landowners are required to dig the hole and physically plant the tree. You must also keep it watered through the first growing season to ensure success.
