Seeking Athol Residents to Fill Vacancy on the Athol Board of Planning and Community Development

The Town of Athol is seeking Athol residents to join the Town of Athol’s Board of Planning and Community Development (BPCD).  The Committee currently has a vacancy, and we welcome a new member in order to achieve a full seven-member board.  The Board of Planning & Community Development meets to discuss all matters concerning the physical, economic and environmental development of the Town. The BPCD’s responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare a comprehensive/master plan (MGL c 41 §81D) 
  • Propose, review, hold hearings and make recommendations on zoning bylaw changes (text & map) 
  • Review and act on subdivisions - preliminary & definitive plans (MGL c. 41, § 81K-81GG) 
  • Review and sign Approval Not Required (ANR) plans 
  • Review and act on Site Plan Reviews/Approvals 

The Board typically meets once a month on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm. Additional meetings during the month happen on special occasions due to instances of continued public hearings, zoning bylaw amendment deadlines and other special presentation topics.
