Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection offers technical and financial assistance and resources to assist with Brownfield site assessment, cleanup and development to buyers and sometimes developers of contaminated properties.

Massachusetts Office of Business Development (MOBD) works with businesses and entrepreneurs and offers assistance and financial incentives for successful business development.   

Massachusetts Life Science Center offers tax credits, programs and incentives for businesses engaged in life sciences, research and development.

Mass Development offers creative financing solutions and real estate services for businesses.

Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation offers small business lending, technical assistance, microloan programs and other financial assistance to small businesses.   

Commonwealth Corporation offers grant programs to businesses as well as other types of assistance.

The I-Cubed Program finances significant new public infrastructure projects necessary to support major new private development.  

Massachusetts Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits.   This is for individuals and businesses that are rehabilitating historic structures certified by the Massachusetts Historical Commission. This program offers tax credits of up to 20% of the rehabilitation expenditures.

Massachusetts Medical Device Tax Credit.    Eligible individuals and businesses that purchase qualifying medical devices may be eligible for a tax credit equal to 100% of user fees paid by the medical device company to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Massachusetts Research Credit.   Businesses located in Athol that are engaged in research purposes may qualify for the state’s Research Credit for qualified expenses, which may include employee wages, portions of contractor fees, and purchase of supplies.
